HOME - The South East Coastal Communities Project (SECC)
The SECC project was set up to address regeneration needs of socially deprived areas within Kent, Sussex and Hampshire. The £6 million project was launched thanks to a £3 million match funding award from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE).
SECC encouraged knowledge exchange between universities and the community across the South East coastal region and was broken down into three locations involving three universities in each area:
- Hampshire
University of Portsmouth, Southampton Solent University, University of Southampton - Kent and Medway
Canterbury Christ Church University, University of Greenwich, University of Kent - Sussex
University of Brighton, University of Chichester, University of Sussex

Solent Synergy Limited, a not-for-profit company jointly formed by SEEDA, the universities of Portsmouth, Solent and Southampton, plus major private sector companies such as VT Group plc, also play a key role in the development of the SECC group and in the co-ordination of the Hampshire- based projects.
